Before coaching with Joy, I struggled with saying no to others out of worry of hurting their feelings.
Then Joy taught me that it is most important to ask myself what I need first. Being honest and true to myself is most important. It feels selfish, so I had to continually remind myself of the oxygen mask on the airplane analogy. I can’t help others until I help myself.
This is what I have learned and practice after this coaching experience with Joy:
1) Feeling I have more control in my life, understanding that I can only control myself. I am growing in holding space for myself no matter what others around me are feeling.
2) Embracing that not everything is my responsibility. I am doing a better job delegating responsibilities to others.
3) Paying more attention to what is going on inside me and giving myself the appropriate time to respond.
What I loved most about coaching with Joy is I have felt inspired and supported to try new ways of approaching myself and others.
